An explotion of colour
Orange is a colour I just love! But I think it's challenging to find fabrics in the right shade of orange. So when this fabric came across my stash of fabric, I was sold. It's a jersey - and for those of you who have been following me for a while, you know that jersey is not something I use much.
But you know, this one is so nice that I just had to have it! So I made a No. 5 Århus top (version 3) with a sleeve from No. 8 Svaneke.
No. 5 Århus is not made for a jersey. It is a pattern that is best suited for woven fabrics. But if I make the blouse version sometimes, I make it in jersey. However, you have to size down one or two sizes to make it work, depending on the fabric.
I'm a size 42, and this orange top I've made in size 40 - but because the jersey I have chosen has a lot of stretches, it is a viscose; I should probably have made it in size 38. It is a little too big.
The sleeve I have used is from the No. 8 The Svaneke pattern. To find the correct sleeve size, measure the sleeve- the measurement has to be the same as the armscye or 1 cm smaller. Because you don't work with positive ease on sleeves in jersey.
I hope this gave you some inspiration on how you can use the No. 5 Århus pattern, as I showed you how to make it into a skirt. I also hope it gave you some thoughts on your choice of fabric the next time you're going to sew.
