Dreaming of the perfect wardrobe
Dear all,
Today I want to take you into my thoughts about my wardrobe.
I have a lot of ambitions for my clothes this year. I rarely buy clothes, as I sew most things myself. But this year, I would like to expand it and also sew my own underwear. I have just learned that if I sew it myself, then 1) it fits better and 2) I feel more comfortable.
So to know exactly what I should be sewing for myself this year that I will be happy to wear, I have taken a look at what I already have in my wardrobe that works for me.
You've probably seen this set if you follow me on Instagram - because it's my favourite set, and I use it a lot every day, so maybe you've seen me talk about it on Instagram stories. It sets the tone for how I dream my wardrobe should look; this set accommodates who I am in so many ways.
If I have to put a little word on my style, I am for the feminine but sharp—the colourful but classic. And the fun, but in a serious way.
- And then I just wrote a lot of opposites. But that's because style is as complex as we humans are. I am a straightforward person, but I have some very complicated sides: I can also be silly, but I can also be super serious. I'm also sensitive, but with some sharp edges. And all the contradictions reflect who I am - which shows in my style.
When I say that this set/suit contains everything I am and what I dream of my wardrobe being, it is because this set is me: serious and fun, colourful and classic and then it has details that give the set some substance and that "extra".
This year I have decided that EVERYTHING I sew for myself should contain some of this, no quick fixes. Because those quick projects do not last long in my wardrobe. The clothes I love and wear are the ones I spend a lot of time on myself. It is as if the clothes have to have many hours in my hands before it gets many hours on the body. Therefore I know this set I know will be in my wardrobe for really many years.
The set is a No. 7 Vanløse trousers with a No. 22 Tangier jacket, just shortened with an attached pocket from this guide.
I also plan to make one more set in a summer version where the jacket is without lining, and this fabric would be perfect for that. (Remember we ship fabrics to a lot of European countries, check the list here) Again, I wanted to make details with grosgrain ribbons and maybe zippers. But it's still on the drawing board.
I would also like to make a set in this wild fabric. It would be the ultimate fall and winter set that I could use year after year. It has a bit of sophisticated Chanel about it. Because even though it's a bit wild with gold glitter, it also contains something very classic in a fun way, and I LOVE it.
I will of course keep you updated on my sewing projects - but you know that it takes time to create beautiful and durable clothes, so be patient with me :)
