No. 6 København through life's ups and downs

Even though I think, design and develop all the HTDF patterns, it will always be a special feeling when someone sews my designs. when you share a picture I can see on social media, I feel very privileged. I enjoy every single one of the makes I see of my sewing patterns.

The patterns often start by being a part of my story, and the design begins with things that happen in my life and mean something special to me. The fact that you want to take my stories and make them a part of your own story is something very dear to me.

Below, I've collected 3 stories of the same pattern. No. 6 København is a very special sewing pattern to me. I feel very humbled by the fact that you invite this sewing pattern into your life's big and memorable moments.

 As a graduation dress

This beautiful dress is from 2017 – a homemade graduation dress. I love this Danish tradition so much, and when I see those young people with white hats walking around, it marks the beginning of the summer for me. The person who made this told me that the white fabric is an old duvet cover, and the embroidered waistband is a table decking the graduate bought on a school trip to Cuba. I love how a unique story is sewn into this garment.

@r.pold shared the lovely picture on Instagram.

As a Wedding dress

I'm so in love with this beautiful red wedding dress. It's a mix-and-match as the bodice is from No. 1 Dragør, and the skirt is from No. 6 København. I love how this make plays with colours, materials and textures, and you can see the bride feels comfortable and happy on the big day. She told me she went to at least 10 stores until she found the perfect soft and correct shade of red fabric. Your favourite, unique pieces are worth waiting for, when hunting for the perfect materials.

As my lifevest

I made the sewing pattern for this dress during a challenging period in my life when many things were happening simultaneously. I decided to release it as a sewing pattern when I got better.

When a few years later, I got a depression; I hand embroidered a beautiful bow onto the bodice using beads and sequins. Working on that dress kept me floating in a period where I felt like drowning. So you can say the No. 6 København has been a lifevest for me multiple times throughout my life.

I'm in a good and exciting place in my life, and No. 6 is still with me on my journey. This is one of my latest No. 6 København dresses I've made to fit my current life situation. I'm sure No. 6 København will always follow me and mean something special for my journey onwards.
