SUMMER THEME: Mix & Match, Danish Summer Dresses
Once I have fallen in love with a pattern, I like to use it again and again. It's actually something I do a lot! I have several patterns that I combine in different ways to use for brand new styles with just a few adjustments.
In my collection of HTDF patterns, I love to combine No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6. I can make many different dresses with them, both for summer and winter.
This year we have decided to do a summer theme here at How To Do Fashion. It starts today and will run through all of the summer here on the blog and Instagram. Our summer theme will be about No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6. We will talk about everything from how to combine the patterns to how to style it - and everything in between. We will also have a small competition. As you can hear we have a lot of exciting stuff planned for your summer!
As said, our main theme will be No. 1 Dragør, No. 5 Århus and No. 6 København. All my dress patterns with a danish city name. I think it's a nice thought: "Summer in Denmark" in danish summer dresses. This summer, many of us will stay home and not travel, so let's make the most of it!
Below you can see all the options you can make with these 3 patterns - there are probably more, but you can use this as inspiration. I haven't made all versions, but some are already available as Mix & Match guides. On Instgram, you can find a guide on finding the mix &match guides; it's saved as a highlight on my profile.
If you would like to add a sleeve to your dress(es), I like to use the sleeve from No. 8 Svaneke. Or if you're into pants over dresses, you can combine the bodices from the dresses with the pants from No. 7 Vanløse - I've made a guide for a jumpsuit here!
It's a bit like LEGO, where the number of pieces you put in the pot increases the possibility of combinations. For me, the clothes must fit my body. So after I have adjusted the patterns individually, I mix up the top, bottom and whatever parts I can add or remove. There will often be some minor adjustments in the waist, maybe a little on the sleeve, but rarely something that cannot be done easily and quickly.
