A blouse with an empire cut. The bodice is cut on bias and has a keyhole neckline. This version has a bishop sleeve. You can buy the pattern pieces as an add on in the shop.


Fabric choice:

Light to medium weight woven fabric. Cotton, Silk, Wool, Viscose, Cupro, Linen or Polyester. Works well in fabrics with comfort stretch. Not suitable for jersey.

We recommend that you always make a muslin before you cut the fashion fabric, to make sure your finished style will fit you perfectly.


Cutting Fabric


On each pattern piece you will find a capital letter. On the cutting layout plan, you will find the same capital letters so that you can easily see which pattern pieces to use for the view you have chosen.

Sewing


 

NB! THE PATTERN HAS 1 CM SEAM ALLOWANCES INCLUDED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.

1.             Cut all your pieces in fabric, pocket lining, and interfacing

2.             Press the interfacing to the facings (C ,D) and to two of the four cuff pieces (L)

3.             Sew the shoulder seam of the front and n neck facing. Right sides together.

4.            Overlock the following pieces:

•             the long side of the neck

•             Side seams on the bottom

•             Shoulder, sleeve opening, side seam, and CB on the bodice.

•             Inner seam on the sleeves

•             The two long seams on the two cuffs with interfacing.

Sew the bottom:

5.            Sew the darts on the back piece, right sides together. Press towards CB.

6.            Sew the front and back piece together in side seams, right side together.

7.         Hem the bottom.

TIP!

a.           If working in lightweight fabrics like silk, viscose or chiffon, sew a narrow hem like this.

b.          If working in medium-weight fabrics like wool, boucle or jacquard, hem with a catch stitch like this.

Sew the sleeves

8.        At the two notches carefully clip into the seam allowance with 1 cm.

9.        Between the notches on the sleeve make a narrow hem of 0.5 x 0.5 cm. See video. This will be the cuff opening.

10.        Sew the inner seam of the sleeve, right sides together.

11.        Sew the cuffs right sides together – each cuff has a piece with interfacing and one without interfacing.

12.        Turn and press the cuff.

13.        Gather the sleeve to fit the cuff.

14.        Place the cuff part with no interfacing with right sides together to the sleeve and sew.

15.        Turn and press the seam allowance into the cuff

16.        Sew the cuff to the sleeve by stitch in the ditch.

17.    Sew buttonholes on the overlap.

18.    Sew on buttons.

Sew the bodice:

19.       Sew the pleat on the front piece, right sides together. Press it like a box pleat.

 20.       Sew the darts on the back piece, right sides together. Press them towards center-back.

21.       Sew the front neck facing at CF, right sides together. Begin at the notch and sew to the bottom.

22.       Sew the shoulder seams, right sides together.

23.       Sew the side seams, from the bottom to the notch, right sides together.

24. Sew the CB seam from bottom and 10 cm up, right sides together.

25.       press all seam allowances open.

26.       Place the neckline facing on the neckline of the bodice, right sides together. Sew from center-front to center-back. At center-front it is important to stop exactly at the last stitch from the CF seam and not catch the seam allowance in the seam. Repeat on the other side.

27.       Understitch the neck facing and front neckline facing as far as you can. Clip notches to the seam allowance.

28.       Trim the seam allowance of the small round overlap to 0.5 cm. Turn and press the neckline.

Assemble the dblouse:

29.       Sew the bodice to the bottom in the waist, right sides together.

30.       Overlock the seam allowances together.

31.       Fold the neck facing to the right side of the fabric and sew to the bodice with 1 cm seam allowance.

32.       Turn and press the facing.

33. Press and the neck opening with 0.5 x 0.5 cm mad make a top stitch.

34.     Pin and sew sleeves to the bodice.

35.     Finish the seam with an overlock. Press seam towards the bodice.

36.    Place the two buttons at the front and sew them in place.
