Wardrobe voyage guide: The Analyze
Warobe voyage guide: The analysis
Welcome to part two of the guided wardrobe voyage! If you’ve managed to keep up with the 20-day diary, be proud of yourself because I am. The journal can be tough to stick to. You can learn more about the wardrobe voyage here if you don’t know what I’m talking about. If you’re looking for the first part of this guide, you find it here.
But now you’re here with 29 days of outfits and a wardrobe diary. Now, what, you might ask? Well, now you must analyze and reflect on the outfits for the past 20 days. It’s now you will find your core; what you find suits you the best, but at the same time is what makes you feel the most like yourself – often, these two walk hand in hand.
This part can also be challenging, but in another way than the first part. This one is hard because it’s about feelings, looking at yourself and your body, and trusting your gut feeling and intuition. And even harder, you have to be able to describe why you’re feeling like this. Put your gut feeling into words. This is my way of analyzing my wardrobe:
Step two: The analyze
Look at all your photos from the past 20 days - you will have to sort them into 2 categories:
All the photos you ranked between 1 – 5 in one pile and all the ones you gave a ranking from 6 – 10 in another pile. You find the score in your diary, where you put how good you felt on a scale from 1 – 10.
You will start by only looking at the ones ranking 6 – 10.
Now you have to see if there is a coherence between the score and how the outfit made you feel. The feeling is essential because good feelings are what we’re going for here. Read through your diary; does your description of the outfits have something in common?
Make a list of all the feelings you see in your diary. You will hopefully have the best feelings as these are the outfit with the highest ranking: These are the feelings we want in all your outfits moving forward.
Pick 3 – 5 photos from your top rankings where you felt the best.
These 3- 5 pictures will help you define your alter ego; try to determine which of the 4 types you are, based on your photos. This is about feeling good and how you want to dress if you only dress for yourself and no one else. You can read about the 4 types here: 1: Graphic glamour, 2: sensual classic, 3: casual chic, 4: playful elegance. You can also be a mix of two alter egos. You can read my analysis here for inspiration.
When you have made your analysis, where you’ve picked the essential parts of your wardrobe, the next step is to reflect on why these are your favourites. Here we talk about colours, cuts and accessories. The analysis and reflection are close; you can’t make one without the other. So remember to use what you’ve learned in the research about your alter ego when you reflect on your style. The reflection guide will be the next step and will soon be available on the blog, so keep an eye out!
