TEAM HTDF: Meet Signe - As if a stone falls from my heart
We have reached the last part of my little story about my wonderful employees. I want to talk about the wonderful people who are such a big part of How To Do Fashion. If you have not read it in the last two weeks about Louise and Sofie, you can also read it here on the blog. I want to introduce you to my team as I am not alone in getting the wheels turning.
Last but certainly not least, we have Signe. Our all together lovely HTDF mother.
I have known Signe the longest of all who are here in the team. Signe started on my regular sewing team way back in 2017. As soon as I got to know Signe, I could see that a sewing constructer was hidden in the heart of Signe. And I like to believe that I planted a tiny seed which has since grown into a giant flower because Signe dared to jump! She has completed her education as a pattern designer and was an intern with me in 2019. And I am very proud to have just been a small part of her journey in the seventh world.
However, it was not until 2021 that Signe became a permanent part of HTDF. Only when we moved into the new studio did there be more opportunities for expanding our universe. Signe teaches in all our beginner classes, which are so cosy (hygge). In addition, Signe also does many practical things in the office. She is good at something that requires systems; she is insanely good at everything to make order, systems and not least, lists.
As with Louise and Sofie in recent weeks, I have also asked Signe some questions so you can get to know her even better.
What is the best thing about working at HTDF ?: "I love my colleagues and the fact that there is room for everyone - even us who are a little crooked. I feel I can be myself 100% here. And then I love that there is so much professionalism and pride around what we do. We do not hide."
Since we are a company that works with sewing and patterns, it was pretty obvious to joke about Signe's favourite things in sewing.
What are your favourite colours to sew in: "Pink, I love pink. But it must be the right Pink. If you go on a course here with us in the studio in Vanløse, it is the pink colour on the walls in the ironing room. Okay, and then I'm also completely in love with dots. It's not a colour, but still, it's like my signature. I always have a bit of dots on me, whether it's my clothes, shoes, bag or something completely different. There is always dots to find in my stuff. "
What about your favourite sewing technique ?: "I love to underline; it gives the prettiest and sharpest finish."
What do you prefer to sew when you sew for yourself?: "In fact, it's not the sewing I get high of. It's to make something that adds up and fits perfectly by the numbers. That's probably why I love construction. To be able to draw a pattern. and creating a system over it is something I find very great satisfaction in. "
What is your favourite pattern ?: "I have 5 which I am very fond of, and it is No. 1, 5, 6, 12, 22. I love that No. 1, 5, and 6 can be combined in so many ways - it's like building bricks. But my favourite combination is no. 1 and 6, that dress combination I have sewn many of. "
How would you describe your style ?: "I probably have a slightly crazy and informal style; I like the playful and fun. As I said, I love dots and also like to take a tulle skirt under my dresses. But at the same time, I am not crazy or wild with colours. I like classic and subtle colours and then with a hint of pink and light yellow."
In the end, I asked the other two how they would describe Louise in a single word.
Louise describes Signe as Mother-like.
Sofie describes Signe as positive and a mood bomb that is very easy to get affected in the best possible way.
And I agree with that. Signe is both our mother but also her own strong woman. A woman with a lot of energy and a great mood. Signe cares about the rest of us and is so caring and loving. In addition, Signe is the one who puts my work life and the surroundings here in the office in order. She is an insanely talented organizer; there is nothing that Signe can not just make a list of or see how a bookcase can be put better in the system - and I love her for that. I am the worst, so messy, and having someone on the team who systematizes things gives me peace. Signe gives me peace of mind and the thought that everything will be alright. She is one of the nicest people, and my biggest problem with her is that when she is at work, I just want to have a long and deep conversation with her all day. For it is as if one never runs out of subjects to talk about in the company of Signe; nothing is too big or too small to speak to Signe about. It is as if a stone always falls from my heart after talking to Signe; as I said, she is caring, loving and listening. Her energy is contagious, and her laughter makes one happy. And luckily, she has an easy time laughing, so the days with Signe are always happy days.
Now we came through the 3 amazing women who are such a big part of my life and HTDF life. As I wrote in the first post, they also contain the values on which HTDF is based - but in their own way. Because we must not be too similar either. We 4 ladies complement each other's professionalism and work well, but also in terms of personality, we are all a good match. It must be nice for everyone to come to work, that you can be who you are and feel what you feel. Sometimes we talk more than we work if there is something more important that needs to be addressed first. There must be room for everything in my office - And how lucky I am to have 3 women who are so different but together the best combo.
