Tracking my wardrobe
I love to track. I track everything from how far I walk, how I sleep, what I sew - You name it, I track it. Something that I love to track is my clothes, my homemade clothes. I think it's funny to see what I've made and when I've made it.
This year I've started something new when I'm sewing. I sew in a little neck-tag with hand-embroidered numbers; How many items I've made and the year I've made it. For example, 2 x 21 would be the second piece of 2021 I've made myself.
In the first two months of 2021, I've been very productive. I've made 8 things, two of them is knitwear.
Why all of this tracking? - Because it motivates me. I only put neck-tags in when I've done my very best, and I'm proud. It makes me focus even more, and I feel satisfied when I can add that little tag to something. That little detail makes me so happy.
I put so much love and energy into every piece I make. For me, all these pieces of clothing are all small masterpieces, and they deserve a signature – my signature. And my signature is the small neck-tags in this matter.
Let's start making clothing something more special again. Often we throw away a piece of clothing when we are tired of it, and we buy new clothes without even thinking about if we need it and if we like it. Let's strive towards only picking clothes we would wear, only having the clothes that bring us joy, take care of the clothes we love, and get the most wear and love out of every piece.
All of that, I automatically do when I make those small neck-tags. My homemade clothes are all small love letters to myself. It's clothes that love my body for what it is and embrace and celebrate it. It's the perfect fit for me.
To this date, I've so far made (and remember sewing is a part of my job, and I do it every day)
