The story in your clothes
I love telling stories. Instead of using a lot of words, I prefer to use my hands and tell the story with them.
We can use our clothes to show who we are, what we appreciate and how we want to be understood. The way we dress becomes the starting point for other people's understanding of us. It becomes our visual narrative.
One part of my story is that I create my own wardrobe, I put a lot of time, effort, and love into the clothes I make for myself. It's not certain that others can see that my clothes are homemade. However I still, I think they can see that time has been put into it and that it does not come from a shelf in a high street store - And then I am sure they can sense how good I feel in it. I feel at home in my me-made clothes.
And that is what it's all about when you create your own wardrobe - to feel at home! The clothes are the house of the body, and I do not just want white walls and a bed in the corner of my house. I like colours, art on the walls, green plants, memories from my travels placed on the inherited bookcase, in short, I want my home to reflect me as a person. Just as I want my wardrobe too.
I love excellent craftsmanship, the handmade and customized - and that is always what I work with when I sew for myself.
This jacket is a perfect example of just that. The material is in fantastic quality, the embroidery is made from a French poster with a lovely vintage vibe, the fit is perfect. For me, it all works!
