Cutting Fabric

Each pattern piece is marked with a capital letter. On the cutting layout plan, you’ll find the same capital letters so that you can easily see which pattern pieces to use for the view you’ve chosen.

Sewing

NB! The Pattern Has 1 Cm Seam Allowances Included, Unless Otherwise Noted.

  1. Cut all your pieces in fabric as needed.

  2. Cut two pieces of interfacing with measurements of 3 cm x 30 cm.

  3. Fuse the long pieces of interfacing to the wrong side of the fabric at the left side seam of the front (G) and back (A). This will make it easier to sew in the zipper later on.

4. Finish the seams of:

You can finish by overlocking or sewing a zig-zag stitch close to the edge

  • The long seams of the skirt (D+E)

SEW THE SKIRT

5. Sew the front and back skirt sections the following way: With right sides together, sew one of the side skirt (D) to CF/CB skirt (E). Match the notches so you pair the right sides together. Repeat on the other side of CF/CB skirt (E) so you have a full front skirt. Do the same for the back skirt.

6. Sew the front and back skirt pieces together along one side seam.

7. For the other side, sew 30 cm up starting from the bottom, right sides together. This will be the left side seam.

8 Press all seams open.

SEW THE BODICE

9. Sew the darts on the back piece (A) right sides together. Fold according to the notches and markings. There are 4 darts in total. Press towards center back.

10. Sew the two front pieces (G) together at center front with right sides together. Sew from the bottom up to the last notch.

11. Sew the shoulder seams, right sides together.

12. Press all seams open.

13. Repeat the last four steps for the lining.

14. Place the right side of the bodice to the right side of the lining and sew the neck hole.

15. Clip notches in the seam allowance of the neckline.

16. Under stitch the neckline to the lining.

SEW THE ARMSCYE

See video  on how to sew the lining and the armscye together in two steps:

17. Twist the lining and the bodice, so the shoulder seams meet on top of each other, right sides together. First on the back and then on the Front.

18. Sew together and clip notches in the seam allowance.

19. Under stitch the armscye to the lining.

20. Gather front piece: between the notches (see pattern piece G). Sew a gathering stitch on each side of the center front seam

21. Gather into approximately 2.5 cm

22. Stitch the gathering in place.

23. Sew and turn the strap (H)

24. Place one strap on the front below the gathering and stitch it to the front

25. Flip it around to the backside and sew it down by hand.

26. Sew the two other straps around the shoulder straps. Move the seam to the inside. Try the top on and adjust the straps to where they fit best. Secure them in place with some hand stitches.

27. Sew the right side seam together: place the front and back right sides together and the front lining and back lining right sides together, matching the under-arm seams.

28. Finish the left side seam of both fabric and lining together.

ASSEMBLE THE DRESS

29. Sew the bodice to the skirt matching the side seam at the waist.

30. Finish the seam with an overlock stitch and press the seam downwards towards the skirt.

SEW IN THE INVISIBLE ZIPPER

See video

31. Place the right side of the zipper along the edge of the side seam. Place the first teeth of the zipper 4 cm from the armscye.

32. Baste stitch the zipper to the dress. Remember to check that the waist seam is matching up.

33. Flip the teeth of the zipper aside and sew the zipper in place close to the teeth.

34. Sew the side seam together both above and below the zipper, so the side seam is finished.

35. Press the seam open and press gently on the zipper.

HEM THE DRESS

36. Hem the dress with a narrow hem. Fold 0.5 cm then 0.5 cm

Tip: Let the dress hang and the hem drop for a couple of days before hemming.
