A classic dress with many beautiful details: a heart-shaped neckline, built-up neck, two-seams sleeves and two vents. The dress has a princess cut and darts at the waist line.


Fabric choice:

Light to medium weight woven fabric. Cotton, Silk, Wool, Viscose, Cupro, Linen or Polyester The final look of the garment will depend on the type of fabric you choose. Not suitable for jersey.

Cutting Fabric


On each pattern piece, you will find a capital letter. On the cutting layout plan, you will find the same capital letters so that you can easily see which pattern pieces to use for the view you have chosen.

NB! The Pattern Has 1 Cm Seam Allowances Included Unless Otherwise Noted.

  1. Cut all your pieces in fabric and interfacing as needed.

  2. Press the interfacing to the centre front neck facing (K), neck facing (L) center back neck facing (M).

SEW THE FRONT OF THE DRESS   

3. Sew the darts on the side-front bodice (B) and side-front skirt (E) right sides together. Fold according to the notches and markings.

4. Press all the darts towards the CF.

5. Finish the seams of:

  • The waistline on the side-front bodice (B).

  • The waistline on the side-front skirt (E).

6. With right sides together, align the waist edges of the side-front bodice (B) and side-front skirt(E). Align the notches, matching the darts and the seams. Pin and stitch in place. Press the seam allowances open.

7. Sew the center front together with the side-front, right sides together. Stop the seam 1 cm before the neckline and backstitch.

8. Finish the seams of:

  • The side seams, single layer.

  • Side-front seam, all the layers together.

  • Shoulder seams, single layer.

9. Press the side-front seam towards the sides.

SEW THE BACK OF THE DRESS   

10. Sew the darts on the side-back bodice (C), right sides together. Fold according to the notches and markings.

11. Press the darts towards CB.

12. Finish the seams of:

  • The vertical ends of the vents on the center back skirt (G) and side-back skirt (F)

  • Shoulder seams on the center back bodice (D)

  • The waist on the Center back bodice (D) and center back skirt (G)

  • The waist on side-back bodice (C) and side-back skirt (E)

13. Fold and press the vent on cente back skirt (G) and side-back skirt (F) onto the wrong side of the skirt. Fold according to the notches at the hemline.

14. Sew the center back bodice (D) to the side-back bodice (C), with right sides together. Stretch a bit to make it fit.

15. Pin the center back skirt (E) to the side-back skirt (F) down to the vent. Place the two vents on top of each other, and sew them together.

16. Finish the seams of:

  • Side-back on the bodice

  • Side-back on the skirt. See how to overlock the seam with the corner at the vent.

17. Press seams towards centre back

18. Sew the back bodice to the center back skirt matching the notches and the seams at the waist.

19. Press the seams open.

20. Finish the seams of:

  • Center back, single layer

  • Side seams, single layer

Assemble the dress 

24. Sew the front and back piece together in the side seams, right sides together.

25. Sew front and back piece together in shoulder seams, right sides together.

26. Press all seams open

Sew the facing

27. Sew the neck facing (L) to the center back neck facing (M) in the shoulder, right sides together.

28. Sew the Center front neck facing (K) to the neck facing (L). Stop the seam 1 cm before the neck line and backstitch.

29. Press all seams open.

30. Finish the long edge of the facing.

31. Place the right side of the centre front neck facing onto the right side of the dress neckline. Sew the centre front neckline but stop at the side-front seam.

33.Place the rest of the neck facing along the dress's neckline and sew it to the dress.

34. Clip notches to the seam allowance of the neckline and understitch.

35. Turn and press the facing into the wrong side of the dress. And secure the facing to the seam allowance.

36. Finish the seam of the hem.

37. Press the hem up with 4 cm.

38. Fold the vent so it is placed right sides together in the pressed fold you did in point 13. Then sew the corner 4 cm from the bottom edge. Do this at the vent on both center back skirt (E) and side back skirt (F).

39. Turn and press the corners of the vents.

40. Hem the dress either by:

  • Stitching along the finished edge around the hemline

  • Or hem with a catch stitch.

Sew the sleeves 

41. Sew the front sleeve (I) and back sleeve (J) parts together in the long seam, right sides together.

42. Finish the seams of:

  • The long seam all layers together

  • Inner seam single layer.

43. Press the long seam towards the back sleeve (J).

44. Sew the inner seam, right sides together – press seam open.

45. Finish the seam of the hem.
